Description: Doulas are a relatively new addition to Maternity Care, however, they are really an important return to an age-old tradition of women-to-women/mother-to-mother support doing pregnancy, labour, birth and the first weeks with a newborn. This workshop trains women to become labour doulas who can work in a variety of settings - from home birth to hospital. The purpose of this training workshop is to provide participants with the skills and information necessary to provide support to new families prenatally and during the birth of a new baby. Training includes hands-on practice of comfort measures, information and common medical procedures, how to give emotional and physical support during labour and much more, including information on starting your own business, marketing/where to find clients, proper charting and intake methodology.
